Lydd speedway is located not far east of Hastings in Kent. The Track is based on Belgar
Farm, A privately owned property, but very welcoming.
The circuit itself was purpose-built for speedway in 1996. The smooth granite surface is packed in on top of a clay base, perfect for getting beginners sliding quickly. It’s ideal for 125, 250, 350 and 500cc speedway bikes (A bit big for 50 and 90cc).
The track measures roughly 200m long, nearly 9 metres wide on the straights and very spacious on the corners. Both corners are different to try and encourage beginners in different styles. In the past six times world speedway champion, Ivan Mauger commented on what an excellent track Lydd was, as well as BT Sport presenter Kelvin Tatum. The picture you can see on the right has been taken after the 2007 season, with the fencing all taken down and stored ready for the new year.
The location is very tucked away in the country and the atmosphere between riders is always welcoming and friendly. Malcolm (Track Manager) spends lots of his time working on the track, even during the practice he is out there with the grader
